The inaugural event, “Playing the Field” (organizer: Sascha Pöhlmann, LMU Munich), took place in 2018 as a conference at Amerikahaus Munich, Germany. The conference assembled for the first time an international group of Americanists from various European countries and the United States to discuss what their field may contribute to the study of video games, and how the games may change the field itself.
